On The Job

Working on my little garden of potted plants has taught me a trick or two. I think I now know how to get rid of those big spiky plants in the mansion grounds. That will make it so much easier to move around and fit in the items we need, at least until I can find a way to get into the house.

I'm making so much money from my paintings now, that I want to spend it fixing the house. I just can't work out how to get through the door. None of my research is giving me an answer. Paolo thinks I need some practical experience, so I'm going to take some internships with different companies around town, see what I can learn from a job. Wish me luck!

My first internship is with a computer company, and my connection with the Mayor of Windenburg is strong enough to let me start as an ace engineer even though I have no qualifications for it. The insight from working in a company is amazing, one of my co-workers pointed be in the right direction quite unknowingly and now I'm in the door of the Mansion. I wonder what surprises await me inside?

Paolo's face says it all really, the place is a tip; the roof leaks, there are holes in the floor, all the furniture is rotting and the wallpaper is mouldy. There's a really weird smell too! Hopefully I'll be able to get some of the paintings restored, they could be portraits of my ancestors.

I need to be stronger, some of the debris that has got in is too big even for the 2 of us to shift. I'll have to hit the gym some more.

We found the source of the bad smell. Need to get a gas person in asap. Bet that will cost a fair amount but aarrgghh!!

We managed to get all the crumbling curtains, drapes and rugs out of the downstairs, hopefully that will reduce the fire risk slightly, but I'm not going to sleep well until we get the gas person in to fix the leak.

I did take the time to check through the post. It was quite sad really, the last fragments of somebody's life just sitting in a pile. It was all old bills and payment demands, so I turned them over to the Mayor to deal with.

The repair woman was very efficient and got the gas shut off safely. She also fixed a couple of broken water pipes while she was here. After she left, I locked the house up again, we can't use anything in there and I don't want to look at the mess.

I keep reminding myself that I chose this, but the temptation to run away from all the responsibility is getting quite strong. Maybe I should write to Alice, see if she has any tips for me?
